I can say one thing, I read the review, Well let see how the story end, I personly like the story (call me nut's if you want) but I spect when the 5 issue end, the story get the people atencion Im fan of Loeb job he is a great writer, just have some hope, I don't talk about the Joe Work (it's hes best work ever, if they think he is traped in the 90's, WHO CARES he is one of the most greates, dinamic artist ever, period) Im not anger about that review people is free to say want they liked or not, For me is great. But the fact of Joe come back to comics is the best notice for a long time, maybe the word's of a fanboy, but some people may like and othe may not, is jus matter of what do you like, I enjoy joe work, not matter what, let see how the issue five end, and then judge the story well that's what I think....

Thanks for posting this review. I read one on IGN too. The book is getting some rough reviews.
Personally, as a fan of Joe I am enjoying the heck out of it. I also do not think Joe is "stuck in the nineties" at all. Can someone please tell me what that even means? No other book on the shelf looks like Ultimates 3 and no book back in the nineties looked like it either.

I think the "Stuck in the 90s" comment is in regards to Joe's artwork being very much on the energetic or flashy side. I've seen that term used alot in regards to U3. Which people seem to use that as a derogatory term towards comics, saying that it may have pretty art, but no story or something like that.
But hell, I got interested in comics in the 90s, I bugs the nuts out of me when someone talks about the 90s comics like they are bad .

The term that confuses me even more is "widescreen"... What the heck does that mean?? If he means Hollywood-esque composition, which is the only thing I can take from the word in this context, then I feel he's really wrong -- Joe has the best composition! Every panel is exciting! I feel that the pencils overall show a definite improvement over -- and progression from -- Uncanny and Battle Chasers. I do agree with every bit that he criticized about the writing though. It's frustratingly bad

Comic kicked eye-ass.....loved every panel of it.....the BEST was Blob in the fridge...EPIC!
I would love to see Joe draw something crazy and weird.....Garbage Pail Kids weird.....that shot of Blob with the neon lighting looked like a bad/good acid trip....

I got mine yesterday and the artwork was superb! Every character is awesome especially Cap. That page where the Brotherhood shows up would make a great poster. The story so far is kinda meh and I like Loeb's stuff but I'm not sure about this time. We'll see what happens I just want to see more Joe and Chris art.

I just got my copy...man this is the best thing ever! I love the story line too, I don't know why it is so unclear for some people. It's flowing nicely through issue one and two - personally I like it. And for Joe's art - just the best man, just the best. Other words are unnecessary!

another review! ugh ok so it's a 5 issue story why don't they just wait to see what the whole story is about and then review it, about the art we all know the art rocks. I personally hasven't read the 2nd issue cuz I can't get it from here(I'll be waiting for the book to com out ) but even without the second I can tell that we'll know what's happening in the end yup I am waiting for apologies from these reviewers in the end- they'll write "we are sorry mr. LOEB for not waiting for the end before we wrote our stupid reviews"

Thanks guys! Glad you enjoyed the 2nd issue. It seems to have printed quite a bit better than the first. Don't sweat the reviews. I usually just get a good laugh out of them at this point. Everyone blasted me on Uncanny X-men back on the day too, but now people point back to it like it's my best work ( and come on, it sucked!!!). Stuck in the 90's is okay. Late 80's early 90's is widely acknowledged as having produced some of the very best comic artwork ever ( and alot of my favorites ) so I'll take it as a compliment. Laying out the panels in an exciting way ( and not just what's inside them ) is one of my very favorite things about drawing comic pages. I literally cannot bring myself to have nothing but 'standard' perfectly straight panels on a page. Not that there arent some books I love reading that are done this way, I just cant get excited working like that. I probably put more thought in to how your eye will move across the page than just about any other aspect of the actual drawing process. The panel layout can have a great impact on the energy of a page, even before you place any art inside of it. So it's not something I'll stop doing any time soon Anyway, thanks for the kind words. I'm working on this book for you guys--not the haters! -Joe
