Wizard World Chicago

For those who couldn't go, I wanted to post some quick things about Joe's appearance at Wizard World Chicago (or the Chicago Comic Con, as they're calling it now).

I only went to the show on Saturday, but he had two tables set up in Artist's Alley and was selling prints of a pretty new (?) Red Monika pencil pinup, which was an awesome surprise. I don't have a pic/scan of it yet, but you can find one floating around on ebay.

During his Q&A panel, Joe mentioned Darksiders 2 and let slip that he's close to coming back to comics for a stint with Marvel (to be officially announced in a couple months). He said it'd be a title he's wanted to work on for a while (if I remember correctly), which got me thinking Spidey for some reason. Either way, it'll be great to get some Mad comics again. And new Battle Chasers comics are at least a couple years out because of the Marvel work and video game development.

It was cool seeing him for the first time. I bought a print and got it signed. I'll try to post it eventually. And I agree with skizzoid, I believe Mad! will be working on Spidey, but ya never know. He said it was a major character if I remember correctly.

Anyway, great to hear we may be seeing some Joe Mad comics on the racks again in the near future. Joe Mad on Spidey would be awesome.

He mentioned the comics announcement would be a month or two away, which puts it right around NYCC. I didn't ask if he was going this year, but it wouldn't surprise me if he's there for the official reveal.

Madman, thanks for the high res scan, that's great. How'd you get the Monika print? I guess I can keep an eye on ebay. Would be great if Joe comes to a New York show, I'd love to get a print direct from him. Joe should totally have an official website and sell prints and sketchbooks and stuff direct to fans, that would be so sweet.

Can't wait to hear what book Joe is working on. Anything will be great, Spidey would be particularly awesome though. Looks like this fall is going to be a cool time for fans of Joe's work.

I've seen 2 on ebay so far. The first one went for 80 and I got this one for 60$. The seller that sold it did a great job with shipping it came in mint shape..perfect. I don't remember if the same guy sold the first one..i'd keep checking I'm sure more will go up and hopefully cheaper.

That Jonboy piece is sick, he's a really solid artist. I will keep an eye on ebay. Any idea what Joe charges for the print if you pick one up in person at the show?? Might be worth it to wait until he makes another appearence near me...

It's so awesome to hear all this news! Can't wait to see what new sketches the Battle Chasers book will have, even though I have all 9 issues I'll still get the hardcover just for that. And him working on Spiderman would be so cool! I will be going to the Big Apple Comic Con in a few weeks (he is featured as a guest so he's definitely expected to be there) so hopefully there is more info then!
