What about your comments on the new art?
Well, my 2 cents are that the ear on the first sketch is quite small once again. Like the Thor sketch in the ultimate 3 preview.(remember the Wizard caption on that sketch? funny as hell)
Smooth sketch lines and great shading is a common thing in Mad's artwork.
To be totally honest i was expecting something... erm... i don't know... more spectacular... like a massive action sketch or a female sexy character...
But hey. One can always dream.. right?

the sketches were really small in the back as a "making of" section!

One can always dream.. right? -Hephasto. I think the only reason why they weren't action sketches were that they were more of the initial character design sketches. I mean, take a look at his initial sketches for Battle Chasers, alot of that were in the same vein as this, because he was coming up with the look of the characters. The Ultimate sketches were a different thing altogether. They were already preexisting characters that Joe did some more action oriented sketches with Cap because he wasn't trying to create a new look yet and was just trying to capture the feel of the characters. That and the Cap image was more complete because of it being a key piece for the article. I mean, look at the Iron Man sketch which Joe was designing a new look for and it's like the Iron and the Maiden sketches as well. Just saying. |

i guess i have to agree with you dave. But still, i'm really anxious about Mad's new art. so i guess i had my hope's up for another dynamic piece like Onslaught reborn cover. (now that was a nasty piece) Truth to be told, i'm kinda dissapointed just because i need more. no other reason at all... i think this gives us a great basic look at how the ultimates will look.his style has evovled into something ingenius. Jeph Loeb said," it'll make your eyes bleed". coming from a writer on"HEROES", we are all gonna have to get a "drool" copy!
