By this, I mean that his art style has changed alot over the years. His art in 1991 is different from how it looked in 1992, 1993, 1994, the mid 90s (his manga-influenced style), and how it looked on Battle Chasers. Personally, my favorite is his art style on Uncanny X-Men issues 312, 313, 316, and 317. That art style was perfect in my opinion! I love the thin lineart and realistic looking figures. Next I love his Battle Chasers art (issue 5 was the first one I got and seeing that image on the first page inside of Calibretto vs Bulgrim was outstanding!! Then, the mid-90s style.

Hey everyone, I just joined up today, and its good to meet everybody. My favorite art style from Joe Mad is his "manga-influenced style", as you say. I'm thinking his run from Uncanny X-Men 325-350, if I'm guessing it correctly. There are a few artists out there who are a little similar to his style that are good (Humberto Ramos and Chris Bachalo come to mind...) but Joe Mad just nails it. It's probably more "cartoony" than some would like it, though...

I like his work on Battle Chasers the most, I would stare at a singe panel for like 5 minutes when trying to read through those.

yep im with windowview on this one - Joe was white hot on Battle Chasers, he wasnt restricted to Marvel characters and we saw his creative genuis in terms of the characters he created as well as his unique technique.

I like his current work the most. Plus he has great colorists like Arnold Tsang and Chris so that makes his work even better. I also like his concept art too where it's more of a sketch and he did a cool job on the 1st issue of Street Fighter- the fight between Ryu and Sagat. Sweet.

I thought towards the end of BattleChasers, his style was really taking off. You can see a noticeable jump in quality throughout BattleChasers in his art, and how he has refined it throughout his career. I definitely love his newest stuff, everything just seems really loose and dynamic, but tight and precise at the same time.

After his Battle Chasers style and the style we see in many of his concept sketches, like those for DragonKind, I really love his 1993 style. If you look at his art from 1992 and then 1993, you notice a palpable difference. It looked so awesome on Deadpool!!

He just keeps getting better it's overwhelming! I'd say his newest work is easily his best. I have a huge soft spot for Battle Chasers though, so that might still be my favorite.

New stuff. I hate how the printing turned out on that new book though....but him and Lichner (sp?) are just kicking so much ass at the moment.

I have to say what Joe is doing right now my favorite work of his. From the final issues of Battle Chasers through to Darksiders concept art and Ultimates, his stuff is just better than ever. I love his old stuff too, all the way back to Deadpool and Excalibur, but he has certainly grown a lot as an artist and has truly become a powerhouse! My one gripe is I wish he would finish Battle Chasers, I dig the Ultimates work but find myself wanting BC much more.

I dunno why, but seeing him draw these iconic characters Ive seen a million times just really fascinates me.....I love Battle Chasers, but it seems SO geared toward his style, ya know? Very Final Fantasy.....its as though Mad was drawing anime.....it was awsome, but its not putting as much of a spin on something.....on Ultimates hes not only putting a spin on this book, he's causing a massive tornado....its just so d**n groovy to see how he approaches each character so uniquely.... ...just my opinion.

That's a cool way of looking at it jettison. I haden't thought of Joe's Ultimates work that way and it does make it feel even more exciting from that perspective.
