Wow, I do know how to rant don't I?

Sorry. Was a very long day, and the mere mention of Mad's commitment to BC really strikes a nerve at times. And I just flew right off the handle.

So my apologies. Sincerely.

It was my first post here for a couple of reasons. The main one being the Tabula Rasa artwork on the cover of such-and-such an magazine. I saw it and immediately had hope that the old Madster was maybe re-igniting his career.

So I googled him and found my way here. And then of course... (see my previous post)... acted like a huge child over something that shouldn't get under my skin as much as it does.

So again. I retract the vitriolic nature of the post. I still love the man and his artwork. Am still sad to see one of his best projects lying in wait.

But I'd like to formally apologize to him and to you Madman! for childish behaviour, in an otherwise, fan-related site...

Won't happen again.

WOW! u guys wrote so many things abt him n his doings n etc. i read sum of the stuff u guys mentioned and seriously it still comes down to the man himself to decide though (joe mad i meant) . I respect whatever decision he makes.

Frankly it does not bother me so much whether he continues his BC comic or not but so long as he keeps his artworks going on ways like doing covers and sum stuff lik dat then.
Bottom line is that i am glad to discover an artist like him ,it really help me alot and inspired me to fulfil my ultimate goal in life though which is to be an comic artist.

Heydo Mad!men/women/other,

I was just wandering in the vast and endless cyberspace when I remembered my Battle Chaser comics and how they were gathering dust (it has been a while since I bought comics and haven't been up to date with the news). So I decided to see what old Mad! was doing and bounced on this site (thx to the webmaster for the info and the pics) and more specifically on this thread of the forum.

Well, to make a short story long:

Once upon a time (3 weeks ago) I used to compose happy happy bubblegum synthpop music. And for some wacky reason my friends used to like it, so I had like pseudo-wacky-"fans" and so I was motivated towards writing more music. But for some reason I was really wanting to test some new synths and composition styles and I was feeling differently than when I was into writing happy happy bubblegum synthpop music. So I had to face a difficult question , should I do what I was good at or should I follow my artistic ambitions and evolve in a musical matter? Well, I came to the following conclusion:
The thing that got ppl to like my music was the fact that I was making something which I myself was happy with at the time. So to not evolve in an artistic fashion would have been quite the opposite and would have been quite dull.

Either way to make the short-story-turned-long back short again , I guess what I'm trying to say is that sometimes artists need to follow their ambitions in order to evolve and give their fans and friends some new/fresh material. For example , if Mad! had never evolved into his manga-stylish art we would have got the dull mediocre comic drawings that we get so often.
Sheez this post is getting long and I'm getting lazy and in need of some tropical flavoured bubblegum.

Mad is an ass for at least not finishing at least the first arch of the story. You can argue all you want about how he still does art. He is still one of the greatest artists in the world, but nothing will take away how simply unprofessional he is when it comes to getting anything finished.

Dragon Kind was as much his fault as anyone at trilunar.

Exarch, not so much his fault, but all he did was rip off himself and Warhammer 40k designs. The art really didnt live up to his skill. Dragon kind had much more originality.

is he still a great artist? yes. Does he deserve the right to branch out into other mediums? yes. But, does he deserve any defending because he left his fans... THE PEOPLE WHO PAID HIS ASS... high and dry. hell no. If he could have at least given some warning, or hell, even just finished issue 10, things wouldnt have been so bad. But I mean, hell, he released that awesome double page spread, and the very next day BC was gone for good.

I keep hearing evey now and then that he wants to finish BC, and I am convinced at this point its just a crock. So Im sure MADMAN! is gonna tell me not to hate him, and I want to state that I don't hate him and respect his desire to make what he wants, but its flat out unprofessional, and disrespectful to treat his fans this way.

I wrote this long thing and then just said screw it. I'll just say this I only reply to stuff that's BS which most of what you said is. The only thing that is well true or a least one opinion is about him leaving BC, other than that I have no idea where you got those ideas from. But yeah I don't really care if you like Mad! or not.

Dude I'm so sick of this. All the stuff you mentioned isn't anywhere near fact. All that stuff has been said before and I constantly show people actual proof that will total disprove everything. All the stuff you heard is all just angry backlash fueled with stuff people just made up. Mad! gave several annoucments that he was moving to games and second he had no control whatsoever over Dragonkind or Exarch being canceled. If you want to think he is an ass and unprofessional fine but can you do it somewhere far from here. I created these boards for people who enjoy Mad's art, if you have opinions on certain pieces and you find something wrong with them that's fine, but I think judging someone and ass and unprossional shouldn't belong specially here or anywhere...that's just your opinion.

Funny thing I noticed that was your first post here. Did you just come here to say all that? Wow way to inform us that he canceled BC and that you think he is an ass, that's real nice. So you decided hey I still like Mad!.. I know I will go to a message boards where people want to talk about him and I will say how much I think he is an ass and unprofessional.

Then you were cool and put "I'm sure MADMAN! is gonna tell me not to hate him" way to look like you called me out or something. Did you read any of this thread or this boards/other boards that I've tried to change your/others opinions on anything about Mad! Like I said I really don't give a nuts if you or anyone don't want to like Mad!.

I never wanted to change peoples minds if they like him or not or to collect his stuff. I wanted them to read facts to show them that maybe they haven't seen. So maybe they won't judge someone an ass and unprofessional because they read something false from some other angry fans. If you still don't believe me and you still don't like Mad! that's fine. I don't like serveral other artists, but I wouldn't go to their messages boards and call them asses without knowing what they're really like. You're judging someone based on the cancelation of one book. Plus I wanted to post recent art without being told that he canceled BC and that they think he's a jerk. Let me and the others enjoy it without you mentioning nuts that's 4 f**kING YEARS OLD!.

Let me guess now your going to say "wow someones mad" Who wouln't be?! you registered just to ruin something I enjoy on a board I created with stuff that's opinion that's based off of total untruths.

Let me say this though, if you want to post here and talk about Mad's work and discuss that fine. If you're here just to post hate and stuff that isn't true then I think I'm going have to start banning people.

Okay so I gave it some thought..I'm going to close this thread and I will tell everyone why. I'm sure this will just turn into something else that everyone will complain about but I'm really tired of all this.

I created these boards and the site so people could keep in touch with what Joe Mad! was doing. My collection is basically complete, me sharing my collection with you offers me nothing and I guess in return people want to come and complain about things that are so old and have been said a million times..here, there, everywhere..nothing new has been said. It's a broken record that I'm getting tired of hearing.

People are attacking not just Joe Mad but me also personally, which I don't have any idea what I've done. Having an opinion that Joe Mad! is lazy and you don't like him because he didn't finish BC, that's fine. Yet that's not the reason these boards are here. If you want to do that somewhere else feel free.

The whole idea of this thread is even ridiculous. Why are people talking about commitment issues over a comic book and still are..when that's a 4 years old issue. I don't see anyone talking about the more important commitment issues in the world. People decided to single out a comic book as commitment issue?! Plus Mad! didn't have a commitment when it came to BC it was a created owned project..that means he can do what he wants when he wants he didn't/doesn't owe you anything. If you feel ripped off by that..fine. Sell your comics on ebay, give them away to some little kids that might enjoy them. You don't need to post here telling me how angry you are. I might not be the smartest person in the world but I can't see how some people could be angry. What I don't understand is why you want to search out a site and just complain over an issue that if you're angry about you should have got over by now. I think people need some serious help because your still angry about a comic that's been gone for 4 years.

Not only that this wastes my time I could be updating the site, drawing, etc. I was going to make some banners for the site for someone, but I had to reply to this crap. I didn't create this site and boards as you anger outlet. The fact that people come here and post this, is basically a punch in the face to me. While my name is Madman! I'm totally the opposite type of person (my name is based off of one of Mad's sigs and a song by Silverchair), but if you invade something I enjoy and slap me in the face, I turn into the Hulk. This last post has pushed me over the ledge. I will be making a FAQs page and a rules page and I swear if someone does something on the list I'm just going to ban them or just reply with a number to the FAQs page and that's it.

You couldn't even begin to understand how tired of these messages I am and I'm not trying to "change your opinion." I'm trying to get you to see that I don't want to hear it in every post and email that gets sent to me. Not only that they're the same emails every time. No Mad! doesn't want to do you bands album cover, no the rumor you heard about BC is false, no you didn't find images to BC #11/12, no you can't have Joe Mad's email, no I will not forward your message that you think Mads a jerk because he didn't finish BC. The funny thing about those emails and posts are you can find them here on these boards already answered or from interviews you can find within a couple mins of searching on Google. It's rude and a slap in my face that people don't read my site or don't think that what they write will take away from someone's enjoyment. I don't go to other boards and tell them whatever they enjoy sucks. I really don't like Ashlee Simpson's music, but I don't ruin it for those people that do. I may not have the neatest/readable site but the info is there and what I have there is what I have..for now. I will let you know when more is coming and same goes for BC. You'll know it's out because somewhere someone will make news about it..specially here.

So this thread is going to get locked. Brainiape1 if you think somehow that I'm trying to silence your opinion then I'm sorry. Though I said your opinion was fine it was the stuff that you were claiming you knew about Mad! as fact that was the problem and the way you did it. Calling someone an ass and unprofessional is an opinion, but it's not one that needs to be shared or at least not in those words. I'm not going to ban you and I welcome you to talk about Mad! since you say you still do like him, though I find that weird how that's possible. If you feel you need to write me send me a PM or write it in the comments section (if it's filled with anger though I will probably lock that too). I'm sure your opinion won't be changed and if you want to voice it please share those in particular opinions on other boards. If you have harsh crits about Mad's work and don't like something about them I welcome that, but please no more attacks at me or Joe Mad!(and I meant that to everyone).
