Although it's not out yet, my dude at the local comic book shop said that Ultimates 2 is falling behind schedule. If that's the case than Ultimates 3 will possibly be pushed back. So far it's October '06, but who knows. All I know is that it gives Joe Mad some more time to get ahead of the game. My dude also said that Joe Mad cannot release any artwork of Ultimates unless they have a complete issue in their hands. We did just see some new sketches for Wizard and who knows what we'll see next month. So does that mean that he's finished with an issue???
I don't know for sure if Joe can or cannot release Ultimate artwork, I'm only going by what my informant told me. Note, I just found this out while that Wizard came out a week ago. That current issue of Wizard was probably in production a month or two ago. Meaning those sketches could, I repeat, COULD be a month or two old. I don't know exactly how it works, though.

Im patient, i can wait, so long as Mad produces the best quality work he can, that's all that matters to me. I would not be surprised if he had several issues done already, since he's not bogged down with doing conceptual designs for videogame companies anymore.

As far as I know Madman! says he's still doing work for a game company called Vigil games along with doing Ultimates 3 for Marvel. Madman! can tell you for sure, though.

Well not sure if your guy means he can show any work from the actual issue before it goes to print, Mad! can show sketches and stuff that won't be used. He's has before sent me some pics before they were in print too..like the SF#13 cover I had that like 4 months before Udon published it like even before it was every even announced he was doing a cover. Also are you asking if he is indeed working at Vigil? I mean I don't know if he is still doing stuff for them but he was, he's the one that told me about it and sent me the link..his part might be done for whatever game they are doing too though. Also he wrote a post on conceptart.org forums about hiring some 3D or 2D(can't remember) guys for the company. He only posted like 2 times and that was awhile ago so he doesn't post anymore there I wouldn't go by a shop guy unless they are hardcore fans of comics. Most shop people I know never heard of any of the artists you ask them about. Like if you say do you have the new cover by Michael Turner they just look confused. Same goes for game store people I once over heard a guy asked what Metal Gear substance was about the shop guy said he never heard of Metal Gear before.

I personally don't go by what my comic book guy tells me, I simply put it on the backburner and if it's Joe Mad! stuff(inwhich he is a fan of), than I might post it to see what you guys think. I am in NO way saying that he is right. As far as Ultimates, he told that he cannot release any art before they have atleast one issue done. From what I understand that includes sketches too, but why wouldn't Marvel let you release sketches? I really don't know if that's right or not. I am not in the business...yet. Maybe we'll find out in the next Wizard.

I wouldn't trust anything some person says in the comic shops. Some people don't know s#!t about what they're talking about and are alot of times trying to start crap because they don't like Joe Madureira or they are pissed because Joe and Jeph are working on Ultimates 3 instead of some Bryan Hitch lookalike.
Besides how can it be delayed when there really hasn't been ANY official announcement of the release date aside from a passing mention of October from an Editorial person at a convention.
I think any delay that we'll see with the first issue all depends on how much the last few issues of Ultimates 2 are delayed. It could back things up alot like what happened with Warren Ellis' Ultimate Trilogy, where Trevor Hairsines' art delays on Ultimate Nightmare delayed the first issue of Ultimate Secret which cause Steve McNiven to start artwork on New Avengers which delayed Ultimate Secret and put Tom Raney on the book which in turn Delayed the start of Ultimate Extinction to this January *whew* that took awhile to spout out.
I think that you aren't going to hear about anything official in terms of release dates until more work is released. Marvel doesn't want to have what happened with some of thier books (like some of the Kevin Smith books) or like what happened with some of DC's All Star books (where they announced All Star Batman for like May, then got announced for June, which then was announced and finally released in July).
But, I just say relax. It'll come out when it comes out. In the meantime, there are plenty of awesome books to check out like Nextwave (b list Marvel characters like Boom Boom fighting Fin Fang Foom and the Shogun Warrior robots), All Star Superman, Shaolin Cowboy, Doc Frankenstein, Marvel's coming Civil War and so on.
And I would not pay attention to anything some clown at a comic shop says.

Dave, I am not saying that what my dude at my comic shop says is right. But I agree with him in the fact that if Ultimates 2 falls behind than Ultimates 3 might be pushed back. That's all I was really trying to tell you guys. By the by, he is a Mad! fan and was in Chicago when they announced that Joe was doing Ultimates 3. For Joe Mad! news, I always come here first, but I started talking to him as I was buying Mad!'s House of M poster and thats what I got. Again, I'm not saying that he's right, I just figured I would tell you guys.
You are right with what you were saying about other good things coming up in the world of comics, though. Jim Lee returning to Wildcats! Michael Turner doing something Marvel! Leinil Yu doing Wolverine Vs. Hulk! Oh, and Joe Mad! returning to comics!!!

Yeah, I think that's why Marvel has held off on officially announcing the release date of U3.
