Am I the only person who gets either disappointed or frustrated that when every day I come to these boards there is no new news? Don't get me wrong, I know Madman! has no control over the artwork that Mad! releases, but seeing how this website is dedicated to him, it would be nice if he dropped in and said "hi" to the fans. Or maybe even show a sketch or comment on some of the discussions. I'm not saying that Mad! is obligated to come to this site or draw something just for us to put up on this site, but I am saying that this would be nice. If I were an artist and had a fansite or even an official site, I would try to drop in and let everyone know I was still alive at least. Y'know, maybe write a blog or something? I can't even imagine what kind of life Mad! lives, but I would try to keep in touch with my fans. I know that Ultimates 3 is coming out sometime this year and then we will have all this new, beautiful art by Mad!, but I don't know. I'm a real patient guy. I've stuck by Mad! all this time and continue to do so. Maybe I haven't agreed with every decision he's made, but I continue to follow his work where ever it pops up (thanks to Madman!). But everyday when I come to this site and there is no news on Mad!, it gets to me. I want something, anything. If Mad! would draw his neighbor's ear, I would love it. I mean, anything this guy does is amazing and so many other people think so.
I put this under the ranting section cuz I figured it was complaining and I'm sorry if it is. I really didn't want to be a crybaby or anything. It's just that I'm aching for some new stuff by Mad! and the only thing that happens is that every once in awhile we get a cover or something done by him. Gah! Sorry. I know that this is not how I usually am but its gotten to me and I know some of you probably feel the same way.

Maverick1104 - If Mad drew his neighbours ear and only his neighbours ear, I would question his sanity and probably think the guy was a weirdo..and put it all down to spending too much time on his PS3!.however lucky for us I don't think he'll ever do such a thing!haha
But...
I have to admit I am totally with you on the brunt of your point. It would be nice if mad put down his joypad and wowwed his fans with a few kickass sketches. We all know how good he is, it would literally take him half an hour to churn out a quick Garrison draft or his rendition of Ultimate Thor.
Ultimates 3 will be great im sure, but others, come and let your stresses out and agree with me and Maverick!!!?

well, my point was, it would be nice if Joe visited this site and interacted with his fans. But, he very well could and we just not know about it. Or maybe he doesn't but that doesn't make him a bad guy per se. I don't personally know the guy. I don't know how busy or not busy his life may or may not be. I don't know if he plays playstation all the time or not (though he has stated that he loves video games and he did leave the comics world for awhile to work on video games.). Look, I'm not saying that he is obligated to do anything for any of us. If he wants to draw concept designs for the next 'My Little Pony' movie then so be it. It's his choice. But as a fan, I'm just throwing in my two cents. If I were in his shoes, I would like to know what my fans thought of things. Anyway, I just wish there were more news and artwork.
Madman!-I have been a loyal fan of Mad! and of this site. I was very careful in what I posted and read and re-read everything to make sure I wasn't crossing any lines. I'm not saying you have to agree with me on this topic but I hope that you see my point. If this is causing any problems then feel free to take this thread down. My intentions were nothing but to get people talking on the boards (in a positive way at that. yeah, I know. That's not always going to happen.). Plus, I just felt like writing what was on my mind. I kept it clean and had a valid point. It's your call, Madman! Thanks for understanding if you do.

I think i agree with mav here but still point out that this is not his official site, and maybe (MAYBE) his under contract that removes his freedom to leech anything until Ultimates3 is out. I don't know it for sure but its a possibility... I read somewhere that Jeph Loeb said that his not gonna release anything from U3 until the book is out... On the other hand you got "I'm not saying that he is obligated to do anything for any of us" part that its a key to your second post mav. I mean you can't expect Joe to be like Tim Sale, Frank Cho or anyone that's active in the net community. I do love to see mad sketches too... but i guess we have to wait and see... My 2 cents.  |

Regardless Im always on your site looking for updates and new news. Am a big Mad fan and I wish we would hear more from the fella thats all. I meant no dis-respect

You can say whatever you guys want it's in the ranting section, that's what I made the section for. I still I don't see why, if you're such a fan, that you and others keep saying things that you don't know are true, just to put the guy down…Oh well these boards will heat up, with people that want to jump on the bandwagon again, soon as Ultimates comes out. I've got a sneak peak at 6 pages and I'm not joking it will be the best comic ever done. The art is way better than anything we've seen him do before. The only bad part is going to be trying to decide who is a real fan and who is here just to claim they've loved his art all along, when even the fans here now can't seem to make up their minds.

Madman!-I don't know if you are including me in the "not sure if you're a true fan" and "saying things that you don't know are true, just to put the guy down" catagories. I hope that you don't see me as such a person. I am a huge fan of Mad!'s work. I have been for a very long time. He seems like a great guy and no one can really say otherwise unless they met him before, right? I have never met the guy and can't say if he's a good guy or not. What he does in his personal life is his business. It's his life. People are going to say things no matter what. It's the internet. I mean, this is what people do on online forums. There are a lot of jerks and say mean things and such just to get a rise out of people. I am not one of those people. I wrote down what was on my mind and kept it clean. I said nothing of Joe's personal life or what he should do. I merely suggested that it would be cool if he visited the site here and there, but then I also stated that he very well could be doing that and we not know about it. I really don't want to be missunderstood on this topic and I hope that people can see my point and understand that I am not bashing him at all. If anyone thinks that then they clearly did not read my posts above.
On a lighter note, the six pages that you saw...were they inked or just the pencils? and has he told you how far he is with the Ultimates and if it would be a 12 issue series? Yeah, I know, the answers to these questions probably can't be revealed to the public just yet. But if you can shed any light on any of these questions, that would be tremendously awesome. Madman - again i don't want to rub you up or anyone else up the wrong way. Your remark about "true fan". I don't even claim to be
a fan. I simply think the Fella is mega talented, and in my book he's the best in the business (and im sure you think the same).Like you i love art work
from masters such as Jean Leon Gerome,Rembrandt, Frazetta, Kuberts etc..the list goes on. I first saw his work in Xmen Alpha, also read an article in
Wizard, which stated the fact he was a admirer of Manga and his fave film at one point was Ninja Scroll. (Ninja Scroll 2 will be out soon by the
way + I've only just found out wildstorm do a comic as well)! I'm ranting about rubbish now and have lost my point. I was only joking about the
video game comments. But like everyone else on this site will be waiting in the depths of anticipation for Ults3 + plus even longer - a month infant
because of shipping England!

I think that when this discussion gets brought up people think I don't get it and that I just want to argue that Mad's work isn't late or has been in the past. You guys should know I totally understand and agree that the work has been late, has been I said, Ultimates isn't late. Someone one Mike's Joe Mad blog said he's been late since October, there hasn't been a release date yet and Ultimates 2 isn't even done yet. yesterday was better than any birthday present I have got I think ever, so you can only imagine how excited I get when I see Mad! art, you guys don't think I know it's been a long time...I now have patience like a ninja from waiting so long.
What I was talking about to what Kable said. You said that he should stop playing video games. I know you say your not serious, but you and others don't know for sure that he's playing video games or whatever. People are just making stuff up because other people get angy and write stuff that totally isn't ture. Everyone read the Wizard article about him liking video games, so what, that might not be the reason he is or has been late before.
That's what I get tired or hearing and arguing with people about, stuff like that guys October claim. It's totally untrue, but if you tell that person and try to correct them, they just say oh well he's been late before and it's probably because he busy playing games so I'm right your wrong..and then they say oh but I still love his art anyway.
and before you think I'm coming after you Kable, you seem like a nice guy, so don't think I aiming at you personally. I just wish people would just look for the facts or stop putting the guy down for stuff that we all do and that has nothing do to with him or anyone being late. Everyone pretty much plays video games or whatever it may be. I doubt if Payton Manning doesn't win the Superbowl people will say it was because he once said somewhere he likes watching tv or whatever. I also don't think Mad's wife would be to pleased if he stopped drawing and making money to live, just to play some video games.
Also are you just asking about were to find any original art or the guy that asked about Battle Chasers art? I get asked the same question like a couple times a month, so hard to remember who it was.
I tired I worked all day so I have no idea if that all came out clear, but it's over let's al move on, ultimates is going to come some day and all this will be forgotten.
I just wanted to add if I created just one of the images I saw yesterday in a year, I would never think I was lazy at drawing..I would be so happy if I could do something good just once.

No new's from mad really I dont butter he is the best artist ever period just he will show us something to blow our mind's like Madman say this will be the best comic ever made, so it will be perfect, perfect need time and we the real joe mad fan's whould be able to give him that

Really, all the ranting that I've been doing is probably because of the lack of inspiration I have. Mad! is my idol (art wise) and I just wish he produced more artwork. I need inspiration. I'm so burned out from life that I have nothing left for anything else. But in the art world, Leinil Yu has been a great inspiration during the absence of Mad!. I love that guy's work. And with Ultimates 3 on the horizon, well, maybe it'll get me going again. But just hearing that Madman!'s got a sneak peak at 6 pages gets me excited. Ah, well. I've been patient enough for this long...

Well I heard back from Mad!, so it's good to know he still is in touch, but he said it's probably not a good idea to post the images just yet..sorry guys. I replied and asked since he can't show anything from Ultimates if he could send the Heroes Reborn cover pencils, that's something, right? So, hopefully he will send that in his next reply. Mad! also pointed me to this guy, Paul Richards, they hired at Vigil games and that's the first time Mad's sent me to a link to another guy's art, so he must like this guy's art. Warning some of the images are mature. He's sorta like a mix of Mad! and J Scott Campbell…here's the link to the site www.autodestruct.com/…figured Marverick it could give you some inspiration too. I really like how this is a ranting page and in the end its turned into somthing quite, well possitive!
I was the the guy who asked about finding original art, I see Silvestri,Turner cashing in using the internet but at the end of the day it just aint Mad! Not to bother mate ill keep my eyes peeled of fleebay!
Regarding the Paul Richard site - that fella always seems inspiried!
I'm gonna get my act togther and post some art! Mavrick/Madman have you two ever posted in any art?
