GOD I just saw the newsarama thing on the third hater post I just got bored.
I AM A MILLER/HITCHs ULTIMATES fan I like how they did it and all
but I ain't pissed cuz of the fact that Joe Mad is gonna draw 5 issues , I like Mad's art and Ilike the whole feel that is coming from the art I've seen so far.
and to end this- the hating is not something that anyone of haven't expected, so I'm not surprised at all
I just hope that when I come in US in the middle of December I'll find the first issue in the store ;D

Another reason they whine is because of Joe's history with past deadlines, but he has had a long head start and the arc is only 5 issues long. So, if the fanboys don't like it, they just have to deal with 5 issues. This Book won't be late at all, he has all the issues done and that came from Marvel. As for the five issues people tend to forget that Joe has a full time job and the Ultimates is something he's doing on the side. I for one wanted a 12 issue run but beggers can't be choosers, 5 issues is fine by me. Welcome Back Joe  !!!! |

over on pencil jack they are hatein.....they say he shouldnt be on it cause its a realisticlly drawn series and hes too comicbookish....the colors look muddy and that it should be inked...personally i think its fine and cant wait to see it Any place where you have a some wannabe artists, you're gonna have resentment. It doesn't matter. Joe Madureira's work is imaginative and fresh, and I don't think I've ever seen him swipe like Hitch has--St. Patrick's Cathedral, Trinity from the Matrix, and several more. Hitch isn't even the best of practitioner of his own style. Of all the British Neal Adams clones, Alan Davis is probably the best. |

I have just read Ultimates 3 issue 1. I am a Joe Mad fan and I am an Ultimate Marvel fan. I am please that it was him who drew it, but it doesn't feel like an Ultimate Marvel book.
Captain America = How come he's not mean enough? For me if Pietro says that infront to the Real Ultimate Cap, He's going to get smacked.
Scarlet Witch = Why does she looks like her 616 counterpart? Her costume doesn't fit in the Ultimate Universe.
Thor = What happen to his hammer? how come it is a 616 version? His circular discs in his costume, how come it does not glows when he calls down the lightning.
Hawkeye = Where the hell are his bows? This is not hawkeye, this is grifter.
Wasp = How come she got wings when she's in normal size? She only grew wings when she shrink in size.
Sabertooth = Ultimate Sabertooth, where the hell is his FOUR ADAMANTIUM CLAWS IN EACH HAND?

I understand what everyone means in this topic. Most of my friends are artists too, and a lot of them badmouth Joe Mad a lot, but I always step up to his defense with the same arguments you guys do. Some people just never understand, though.

I haven't read the book yet, but I read some comments saying that the colours muddle Joe's drawings, and from the teasers I've seen I completely agree. I think the colouring is great, and I obviously love the pencils. Maybe inking would have been a good idea? I often like the no-ink approach, but I agree in that it doesn't work for me from what I've seen. I really want the panoramic poster, but I only want the pencils version. The pencils look 400% better, I feel.
I'll reiterate that I think the colours are amazing... something just doesn't sit well, and I think it may be the lack of inks.

What's with hating fans in general? I never understood why people take time to hate on comics or creators that they don't like - if you don't like it, ignore it and spend time talking about what you do enjoy in comics.

They're probably upset that they are a bunch of talentless hacks who will go nowhere in life and probably end up alone because they are cynical and jaded about everything in life. Honestly, they have no right to criticize Joe's talent because he probably has more talent in the finger nail clippings that he casually throws away, than they do in the entire fiber of their being.
Nathen I hope you run this board like a dictator and allow only fans of Mad to post, if others want to hate, and i mean hate, not constructively criticize, but HATE, they can go elsewhere. That post by Tim Townsend was brilliant.

CAPTAIN AMERICA > in the book Cap was busy with something, I guess Cap was more occupied with something so he didn't have the time and effort to smack around Quicksilver. I think he was more preoccupied looking at Scarlet Witch's banging body! SCARLET WITCH > hmmm... she looks d**n sexy in that costume so I don't mind... hehehe THOR > His hammer I dunno about that... but the glowing discs part... I guess Thor forgot to replace the batteries on his Fog Lamp discs... lol HAWKEYE > he has hand cross bows.... that should count! WASP > She evolved? I dunno hehehe SABRETOOTH > Guess he had a manicure and pedicure and opted for a natural shine instead of the shiny metal ones... Sabretooth loves fashion!
