Hey all,
I was just over at Marvel.com checking the release date for Ultimates 3 #2 and it looks like it's been bumped to the 23rd of Jan. I think the date has changed a few times at this point. I checked last week and it was due out the 16th I believe.
I really hope lateness is not going to be an issue with this series. Anyone know if Joe's work on the book is all done or is he still currently working on pages?

I'm pretty sure Joe is all done, or mostly done with his share of the book. Sometimes the current storyline can change, which might change continuity in other books, so sometimes they wait to release a book, especially a high profile book like Ultimates. I do believe that Joe is finished though, especially #2 at least.

I've talked to Chris a few times in the past and he was working on the Spidey splash page where Hawkeye is in the background firing. He said that the powers at be wanted him to change the light under the bridge cuz it looked like Hawkeye was being projected or fired in the air. And this was right after Wizard released the teaser image with issue one already out and that page was for the following issue. So, with all the tweaking they seem to do, I can understand why the book may be pushed back. I don't believe it is due to Joe not being done with the art, but I personally feel that Joe may not be done just yet. I feel that he most likely is done with issue two, but the issues after....I have no idea. He could be very well finished with the whole arc. Jeph, Joe, and Chris had to wait until Ultimates Vol. 2 was finished or near finished to even begin. With all this said, yes it urks me that it may be getting pushed back, but I am still excited to have my favorite artist back in the field I love.

I know for a fact that all the issues have been done for sometime now. The lateness is due to some last changes before the book hit the shelves from what i was told. Joe had completly nothing to do with it. Also if you look closely, the preview pages changed from when we first saw it, like the light under the bridge.

LabSOUND, good to hear the issues are all done, did Chris Lichtner confirm this for you?
It's amazing that they ask for changes in the work so close to the release dates. The changes really do appear to be for the better so waiting a little longer is not an issue. I was just worried that maybe Marvel had solicited things before they were truly done and we would see some major scheduling problems which would really take the steam out of the book. I am glad this does not seem to be the case and I can't wait for issue 2!

Picked up my copy today. I only had a chance to flip through it, the color looks great this time around and Joe's stuff looks mindblowing. Can't wait to relax and read it.

I got mine about noon today. I read the whole thing in the car. The first issue kinda was thrown at you and this one I guess you could say the same thing, but its coming together. I personally felt the story was crap at first, but I'm beginning to really dig it. I can't wait to find out more! Sad thing is, that this story feels so quick that it'll be over before we know it. Loeb mentioned that McGuinness was having a lot of fun on Hulk and might not be able to do Ultimates Vol. 4. Would be cool if Mad! and Chris could do another arc, but I find that highly doubtful. Anyway, back to issue #2....awesome. It feels like almost every page is a splash page. The last page leaves you with a big grin on your face (I personally had one the whole time). Coloring is great. Not dark or "muddy" as was the case for the first issue due to the printing. Love how it brings more life to Mad!'s work. Kinda like a watercolor piece. Can't wait for the next issue!

I agree with the comment on the colours this time around. I wasn't digging them issue, and felt that they totally detracted from Joe's work, but this issue I liked them significantly more! And, yeah, I subscribed through Marvel. I've never done this before, so I was very excited, since I was expecting it to be a week after the release date

And, yeah, I subscribed through Marvel. I've never done this before, so I was very excited, since I was expecting it to be a week after the release date Once this series finishes hitting the shelf, I would love for Marvel to sell a PDF of the entire series on line displaying the pages in their original RGB instead of print ready CMYK. If folks want to see what these pages would have looked like in RGB (video color) look no further than Chris Lichtner's home page at www.liquidology2.com. If Marvel would have invested the proper care and funds for the printing of this book, we might have seen something close (close because of color quality loss between RGB and CMYK reproduction) to what has been posted before printing. My heart goes out to Joe and Chris. Being an artist myself, I can imagine the looks on their faces when they held the first issue on their hands. Marvel, please get it together, quality is more important than "time to market". We fans notice little details that ruin a good reading and viewing experience. Gustavo
