So, are people pumped for the new hardcover anthology!? What are your thoughts on this forthcoming collection?
Personally, I'm excited. I'm a huge fan of Battle Chasers and to have everything collected in one place with extra material sounds very cool to me. The price is a bit high and I feel Joe should have completed the story before doing such a collection but I am still def pumped to get my hands on this.
I hope the collection does well and encourages Joe to return to the property and finish it up proper. That said, I am shocked Joe has not been doing more promotion for the hardcover. No interviews, no preview art, nothing since the book was announced.
Anyway, I'm excited. Looking forward to reading the Battle Chasers saga all over again.

Agreed Tom. I look forward to it very much so. It's just nice after so many years to have all issues plus a bit of bonus material in one nice collection. Its funny but I think Joe gives us a clue as to his actually continuing the story when he mentions in an interview about this Anthology that (I'm paraphrasing lol) he's going to see how fans receive it, old and new. I mean if it does/sell well, maybe he'll have a go at it again. Oddly, I wish it were an even 10 issues lol!. I guess that cannot be considered a grip and I sure hope not, I'll take any number if its BC.
I am actually convinced that Joe WILL finish BC up, or rather, he'll work on it again. We can't forget, this is his 1st big creation (correct me if I'm wrong guys), in terms of a comic series. It's like his baby, his child lol. If anyone honestly believes, EVEN AFTER a decade that he's done with BC, I mean think again lol. It seems so obvious to me that he would never abandon such a precious creation of his like that. 10 or even 20 years won't stop his creativity with the series. It could be his "secret weapon" of the future even lol. But my point is, there is just no evidence that he's completely finished with BC. There is so much that story can tell and has yet to reveal to tell us. Joe is also the kind of artist who is forever being influenced by awesome creativity, he's like a creative energizer bunny lol. BC could have so much more added to it indefinitely and frankly, when Joe has the burning desire to get back onto it, I can bet my left drawing hand he'll be there to share with us. BC is simply too big and too special, to Joe and of course, to the fans.
P.S - I sure hope that before my life ends we see that BC Anime produced in Japan I can name a few studios would give fans and Joe even heart attacks should they do it. Bones, 4c, Madhouse & Gainax JUST to name a few lol. Also Tom, bravo to your awesome artwork on your blog!, it's incredible bud!

I'm with you man, I think Joe will finish BC eventually, if only to stop fans from asking him about it every time he appears in public, haha. I hope the anthology does well and the success lights a fire under Joe's butt. Someone needs to be promoting this book more!
Thanks for checking out my blog too and for the kind words, much appreciated!!

Wow, any explanation as to why it keeps being pushed back?

collected editions get pushed back all the time. I know alot of Bendis' creator owned books' collections would get delayed due to printing errors or things like that. It could be as simple as that, or it could be as complicated as a difficulty being able to use the issues released by DC.

It could be a lot worse. I remember them taking over 3 years for the American Flagg HC to come out.

I'm not sure what the official release date is for this anthology, but I preordered it last year, and I just got a notification from Amazon that it's been pushed back to July now... I don't know if that's just Amazon, or if it's based on the release of the book, but... wow. Somehow he still manages to epic fail on release dates even on a collection of works that are years old... This is worse than waiting for the serial editions! I remember the comic store laughing at me every time I would go ask if they knew when the next issue would be out..

Yeah, I got the same e-mail from Amazon.com. I hope it's not accurate but who knows. Last I checked Image's website the book was still listed as hitting shops in March, in two weeks I think. So, who knows which is right.
Anybody know the real deal?
