Just wanted to start a discussion thread for issue 1 that came out today.
Without getting into spoilers, I just want to say that it's a very fun book. I kinda wish Joe's work was inked though.
That said, after redeeming the free digital copy and after buying Wolverine and the X-Men #1 digitally, I want to say how much I am loving digital comics. Once format and price finally gets settled into a more viable format, it's going to take off. I don't have an iPad or a Kindle, so I looked at it on my iPhone and digitally, the colors pop so much more than on paper.

Totally agree, my complaint is the colors were great, but that style works best when the art is inked. Just my opinion. The Ultimates worked out great, but the colors were more of a painted style, not the cut/gradient style. I would love to see this book inked! Other than that...pure Awesomeness!

Loved the first issue. The story was fun and the art stellar.
Joe's Spidey and Hulk rocked. Loved the JJJ/Moleman pages too, they were the highlight for me. I think the brighter more Saturday morning cartoon atmosphere of this book is a much better fit for Joe's style in general than the Ultimates universe was.
I agree, inks would be nice. I like the colors but I think they make the pencils appear sketchier than they really are. The darkening of the pencil lines creates a sketch effect that doesn't appear in the very clean original pencils we've seen. My only other complaint is that the book was too quick of a read. I want more!!!
Pumped, welcome back Joe!!

Wow, I thought I was the only guy who was hoping for inks, it's cool to see great minds think alike lol Where was Tim Townsend? I know he does Bachalo's stuff, but isn't there anyway they could have scheduled it so he could do both guys? I think he was the best guy to ink Joe, plus they get along!
As for the colors... I didn't care for them. They looked too washed out, like someone did it with watercolors. I think they should have either stuck with Liquid! or if they wanted to try something new, go with Udon. Either of those two would have done better work.
Still, it was a great comic, and I can't wait to see issue two this wednesday!

Yeah! But I miss pages 01-02 ( splash) and 21... When I see this pencils I pray for a B&W edition of the book like in Ultimates.

I noticed at kwanchang.com that alot of Joe's pages are done in print size now, not the typical 11x17 pages.

He start doing this in Ultimates. You can see two pages in only one 11x17. And ther also somes 9x11 original pages...
