Yeah, Steve Wacker, the editor of the book has already said last week that it's rotating artists and Joe will be back again and he'll do like 6-8 issues a year.
The thing is, Land is like the worst possible choice for a rotating artist with Joe. Totally wrong style of art for what Joe has already established.
I'd rather have Coipel, J Scott Campbell, Ed McGuinness, Jason Pearson, or Stuart Immonen on the book.

I freaked out too when I saw Land was replacing him, but before I saw that I read the interview with Wacker where he said Mad was only taking a break. It's a good thing I did or I might have had an aneurysm.
As to possible fill ins....
I've heard that JSC and Loeb have been working on a spidey project for a while now and that they already have issues in the can. This would prolly be the best book to feature it in since 1. Campbell's style actually looks similar to Mad (which helps give the book a consistent feel to fans and 2. the nature of a book like this where talent is constantly rotating.
I'd have to disagree on Ed McGuiness though; I mean, I love his art and his style is very similar to Mad's in a lot of ways, but his Spidey just looks generic, he doesn't really stylize him and make him his own, you know? I'd much rather he stick to big, over the top kind of comics. His current Cable project, X-Sanction, actually seems like a great fit for him and I;m looking forward to that mini.
Otherwise, the best fit? Humberto Ramos. He's the quickest of the Cliffhanger guys, has a very similar style, and has already spent a year drawing the character. However, he's still too slow for a twice monthly book like Amazing Spidey (I think he's done fewer issues than Casselli even though he's supposed to be the lead artist), and his "fill-ins" on ASM don't really mesh with his style. Plus, Ramos has some cache to his name and could keep sales from dropping on the non-Mad arcs, and thus help build a solid fanbase for the book. Move him to Avenging where he can slow down to a normal monthly schedule and just have him and Mad as co-artists on the book. Problem solved! ;D
