Hi to everyone!

Im from Greece and i am insane about Joe Madureira art. I myself do a little sketching and graffiti and i like to think that i am at a good level.

When i look at other artists work i get all wound up and i say to my self "hey i'll get there"...but with Joe's art.... that is a whole different story.

The guy is so good that he disarms me i think about giving up every time i see something drawn by Madureira...

The thing is that all i know i've learned by my self no lessons and i think that there is only a certain point of skills that one can achieve without guidence!

Do you guys know of any schools that i can look up? I am really interested in progressing in art and getting that proffesional comic art look

Don't give up hope. Most artist are self taught. And those who aren't go to some decent schools that can help htem along the way. I don't know of any good schols in Greece i'm sure you could google them. But there are comic book schol like teh Joe Kubert school. Or even ( as far as schools in NY ) SVA teh school of visual arts is a great school to look into . FIT which is Fashion institute is another great school for art . But you've gt to learn your basics before you can get it goin. The human figure, layout and design, light sourcing, penciling , inking , coloring and your method for finals.

Posting on forums was my teacher. No one knew what i looked like. no one knew me personally. they could say what they really thought about my work. Mind you people can be A$$ kissers or they can be unnecessicarily cruel. But you get the chance to receive open honest unbias opinions and you swallow pride and take teh critisism for what it is. take hte good and bad in your work and grow from it. Go to conventions , talk to Pros about your work. Ask what you need to do. and when you getto a good enough point then they won't tell you anyhting other than - Do you have a card? i need someone like you for a project.

Im gonna get me a book on inking and try to get some more work done on my own and im also going to look into those schools you mentioned.
