This pic is all about the techniques that I used to make it. For starters I didn't use the airbrush or paintbrush tool in photoshop AT ALL Instead I filled using the bucket tool for 4 flat layers and then started rubbing back with the eraser and smudging with the smudge tool. Not easy and certainly time consuming and I found myself zipping from one brush size to another but it worked. The background is a series of layers of the flamingpear 'glitteratto' plugin set to screen mode and were originally blues. I then added a tan layer over the top and set that to hue. The rock base....well, it's not very good IMO but it was done by using a rock-photo texture over the top of a dark grey-purple, lowered opacity and then set to 'hue' mode as well in the layer Comments welcome as always

I usally just use the lasso tool to color. By just selectng the area you want to color and then fill. Plus you can save the selection as a channel and select it later if you want to mess with the colors.
