Since this gets ask a lot I thought I should make the ultimate how to post pictures thread.
1. Getting your images on the internet..
First you have to have your picture hosted somewhere on the internet. You take pictures you have from your computer and upload them to either a free image host or a pay host. Some good free places are Imageshack or Photobucket there are tons more. If you use a free image hosting site you can only upload images and sometimes you can only load certin files(jpeg, gif, etc).
You can also pay for your own hosting. If you get a good hosting plan you can upload all kinds of files(jpeg, gif, mov, and more). I use Fourbucks to host my Mad! site. A pay site allows you to host images but you can also make a full site too..a front page, etc. Mine costs 11$ a month, but I host two sites on one account. Fourbucks has cheaper ones that start at..well 4$ a month. There are so many hostings sites that you can choose from, but remember it costs money and you should choose one that is reliable. I have used other hosts before and they can easily rip you off by charging you more once you signed up. The only one I can recommened so far is Fourbucks. They're the only one so far that has been good that I'ved used. I've been using them for 2 years(or more) and I have never had a problem with them and they great customer support. Sorry if that sounds like an advertisement, but they're the only one I can recommend. Before you sign up for a pay host ask around and read what your getting into.
Another thing for pay hosting is you'll probably want a domain name which also costs money..So if you want a cool name like www.yourname.com it's going to cost you. You can get them pretty cheap. The best place I can think of is Go Daddy. Make sure you choose the best plan and the right name before you sign up. You wouldn't want to sign up and get www.johnsmithsart.com when later you really wanted www.johnsmith.com
2. Sharing your pictures on forums..
Now that you have your images hosted somewhere you can place them on forums. On most forums you can just type code(html) and add the image youself.. if you know html.
An easier way is most forums have little buttons when you're making a post and you can easily insert a image. You just have to hit the button.. or something similar on other forums. It will either add the code [/img] in the message window like these forums do or a little window will pop up asking you for the url to the image you have hosted somewhere. Then you just copy and paste url into the box or between the code like on these forums. If it's on forums where the window pops up and you stick the url in the box just hit okay and it will appear in the message. When you push reply you should see your image displayed.
3. Some general notes on images..
You don't want to make your images to large specially the width of the image, because people will have to scroll over and over to see the full image.
You also want to watch your image file size. If your image is only 50k it will load pretty well, but if your image is 2mb it's going to take awhile to load and also if you have many pictures in one thread it could take a really long time to load.
To edit your images you'll need an image edit program. Most computers come with some basic image editing program on the computer already or you can buy something like Photoshop. The free one on your computer(if you have one) only lets you do basic things. Photoshop lets you do all kinds of things and on the newer versions it has a save for web option that helps reduce your image size and also lets you see the quality of the image at the same time The smaller your file size usually the image quality goes down, so you have to find a good balance between the two.
okay I think that's it for now I will have to edit this more later.
