Joe Mad - pencils, inks or colour?

So what do you prefer? His pencils, his work after they're inked, or his work in all it's full-blown glory in colour?

I kind of prefer his pencils - they still maintain that raw coolness to it, and has the highest element of his style. I find that inks somehow subtract something away. Like when the inker chooses to ink in a different style that isn't as true to the pencils as they could be...

Colour is great too - especially those done by Liquid! But overall, pencils are the way to go!

Madman!, if you have anymore pencils of his, be sure to put them all up, ya? I can't find enough of those around... And I don't know how you people manage to buy original pencil works of his, either...

I definitely prefer his pencils but I like to see it in all the stages too. Inks look great and so do color, but I would for sure have to say pencils.

usally the only other pencils/inks I find are crappy ones off of ebay. The ones I find on sites I have pretty much all of them. The only ones I think I don't have uploaded are these juggernaut sketches and I'm not certin that they're his work. Mad! contacted me awhile ago and said he might be able to send me pencils of Exarch poster, but he wasnt sure if he could. Hopefully he can and also remember to send those. I wrote him back like 2 times since then, but I'm gonna wait cause I'm sure he is very busy and I don't want to be a pest and scare him away.

I love his work, and i definitely love his pencils the best, but i enjoy seeing them in all forms: pencils, inked or colored.

Btw, madman!, has streetfighter 1 been released yet?

I defenitly prefer the PENCIL over the ink or color
for me the pencil work by him self had an own personality, had the MAD! stamp and could work pretty good whit out the others but the three make the best team

personality I prefer the mad art whit the inks of Mcweeney over Townsend cause I think he respect more the mad style but Mad and townsend was the best team in UXM but still "MCWEENY"

LIQUID, UDON bouth greates but still like just a littler bit more the LIQUID work just a little..........

Biroons - I have to go with you on both the choice of inkers and colourists. It's when Joe teams up with McWeeney and Liquid that his best works really come to life! You know, when you look at it, and you say - Oh man! Now that's justice to Joe Mad, *and* it compliments his work too!

yeah I was just stunned that he wrote me and then replied again. I just keep checking the inbox like everyday, cause now I keep wishing there will be a new one. I feel lucky just getting the one and I'm sure it's just cause he is busy I bet he write as soon as he gets another chance.

I think all the inkers/colorists on Mads stuff has been good, but I think when Townsend and him work together it looks the best.

You know i remember a while back on the original Joe Mad! boards Joe said he would try to do a clip or transition phase of one of his pages. Of course i had a feeling Joe probably didnt have time:). I would have KILLED for that lol. I prefer his stuff penciled ANYDAY. As a matter of fact i remember he was messing around on BC 9 and asked if he should do a whole issue of BC in pen. PLEASE DO IT JOE!!!!!!!. But umm yeah, i prefer penciled, to me personally, its actually FULLY Joe Madureira without any 'enhancements', now if he did everything (color, ink, etc-(which he is awesome at lol) then that is a different story, but pencils is the way to go:D.

I made that in PS in like 5mins and it would probably be just as easy to do in a movie clip all you need is the 3 parts pencils, inks, and colors.

KOWABUNGA!!!! Killer Dude! Mad! and Townsend are my choice. As far as color, i would have to say Liquid if he is inked, but since you posted the 2 of Subzero, I'd love it if he teamed with the one who colored that. All Mad!s pencils with the color enhancements totally rocked! Oh Madman, check the commitment thread in BC. Had a question for you and also was waiting to hear your opinion on what i had to say.

If this was directed at me Madman, it was supposed to be something like that lol. See he said he would TRY (now he should be protected lol) to get to use a page of artwork scanned. But each time he would move a bit further he would stop, scan it, and send it in. Then afterwards we would have about 8-10 (maybe less) of cycled sequential work from Joe, from idea, to finished pencils:). But you were on target with the idea;). It just would have been on separate pages and we would actually have seen the turtles thumbs and roughs:).

ah! I see what you mean now that would be pretty cool to see each step, kinda like the load screens on like Mark of Kri. I though you meant like what I did cause I remember they did do that on the front page I think with the Xin cover but maybe it was something else.

Yeah madman i love the kri artwork, awesome stuff. But yeah i mean exactly a process of Joes pages, i would literally have cardiac arrest lol!!!! ;D.
