Art trading cards are 2 ½ inch by 3 ½ inch original art works that are traded around between artists. This is really big on many art forums and I thought we could do are own art trading cards here on MAD!
This will work as fallows. If you are interested in participating you will send me a personal message stating that you want to play and to what mailing address you want the trading cards sent to. In return you will get a PM from me telling you the rules of the game and everything you need to know before you start drawing your trading cards. I will wait two weeks or until 15 people have signed up what ever comes first.
This game is open to anyone that wants to play. Nobody will be excluded for any reason other then the 15 person cap. So if you want to play send me a personal message now so that you can assure yourself a spot in this first round of trading cards.
If you’re not going to play by the rules then don’t sign up. It’s that simple.
You have the next two weeks to ask questions and to sign up.
Remember, if you want to play send me a personal message so that I can give you all the rules on how to play and the information that you need on the format of the trading cards. March 21st will be the last day to sign. the early bird gets the worms so don’t wait.

I really would like to play, but I doubt I will have time. Now I have to make some logos for my class, some models for another class and soon we will start making scarfs in another class. ;D
The idea is nice, but I think this restriction in size is bad think. Can't we just send a whole pic? Those cards aren't going to be printed or whatever.

If you don’t think that you will have the time to do the drawings then you should not sign up. However, keep in mind that the images are not very big and in most cases don’t take more then an hour or two to do each one.
As for the comment that you made on the size of the image, This is a key part of the game. We are making trading cards and there for they need to be the size of a trading card. In most cases that is 2 ½ inch by 3 ½ inch. The size will also make it helpful in terms of time restrictions. I have found that because the image is the size that it is, I can take them to work with me and work on them there.
Finally, I’m not going to be a dictator here. I’m open to all ideas. Perhaps we can do a dedicated round of trading cards that are of a larger format. All ideas are welcome but for this first round we will be sticking to the said size.

Byrne, I work really slowly. If it takes 1 hour to complete I will need at least 3 hours. I like the idea anyway, and I will try to play in the next round.

Bryne
Firsty thanks for your comments on my previous Red Mon thread -
How does the card game work? Is it a matter of the participent electronically posting artwork of a limited size?
If you tell me what you have to do specifically ? im sure to sign up It sounds like fun
Thanks

Well Kable, You will be creating 2.5 x 3.5 inch trading cards that you will mail to other members that are playing. When I say mail I mean actually send it to that person(Not by email)
As you finish each card you will need to either scan it or take a digital photo of it. so that it can be posted on the boards. But other then that there’s not much more to it. I have a list of rules that you will need to know if you are going to play so PM with a message telling me that you want to play and i will send you a PM back with the rules.
And it will be fun you can count on that!
do you have any other questions?

This is a quick example of what an art trading card looks like. I made this one last night at work so. Its 2.5 X 3.5 inches on a nice piece of white stoke paper. It is just a preview of what we will be making. Of course you will make what ever you want to, this is only to give you an idea. If you want to sign up send me a Personal Message. There are still 12 spots open but only 1 week left!

Sounds cool, but I have no idea how to put anything up on the internet or I would have posted some art up already. Would Photbucket work??? And we could draw whatever we want? And, we draw something and then send it to the next person via snail mail? Is that right? Byrne, could you send me more details either thru PM or thru this thread? Any more info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Cool. I've been actually wanting to draw something lately but have had no motivation to do so. Having an "assignment" is kinda, I don't know, cool.

I know just what you mean. Sometimes having a theme can get the old creative art juices working. This is a very fun way to get your hands moving on the paper again and it won’t take much time.

Great! Maverick1104 is the 3rd member to sign up. If you count me there are now 4 members participating in this fist round of trading cards. This means there are only 11 more spots left for any one that wants to participate so don’t wait!
Also Maverick asked a few good questions and I thought it would be helpful to everyone that is interested in playing to see them so here you go.
How many cards can we make? You have to understand that this project is just a starting point for the hole card game. I want to keep this card trading going interminably. For this project we will be making at least 3 trading cards. Part of the fun of this project is that we get to trade original art work with other artists. So you will make at least 3 cards and you will give them all away to the rest of the members that are participating. In return, you will get original art from all the rest of us. Remember that you can always make more trading cards of your own and try to trade them for the art work of another artiest. That’s all there is to it but believe me, It’s addictive and very fun. If you look on eBay some people even make money off of the art trading cards they make.
What am I allowed to draw? You are allowed to draw anything you like. There will be a theme and I might have a few rules or exceptions but you definitely won’t be confined to super heroes or any other topic for that matter. Perhaps in a future round of trading we could have a specific topic like Mad! or something but not this time.
Do you supply the cards or do we just draw something in the certain dimensions assigned? You will be creating the cards with your own materials in the 2.5 x 3.5 inch dimension that I specified earlier, then snail mailing them to the members that I assign to you.
If any one has any other question please let me know. I will be happy to answer them all.
